11th ANNUAL FLOURISH AWARD EXHIBITION - Scarborough

Selected from open submission/shortlisted

The 11th annual Flourish Award for Excellence in Printmaking exhibition runs until 12th September in our project space in Huddersfield town centre before touring to Woodend Gallery in Scarborough from 3rd October until early January 2021.

Established in 2009 by West Yorkshire Print Workshop to champion printmakers working in Yorkshire, Flourish now celebrates work from across the UK.  Each year the exhibition includes 12-15 artists shortlisted for the award by an independent panel of judges.  This year’s judges are Stephen Snoddy, Artist and Director New Art Gallery Walsall; Bronwen Sleigh, Artist and Printmaker; and Grant Scanlan, Huddersfield Museums Manager.

The Flourish Award always presents a unique insight into printmaking from across the UK and the changing panel of selectors ensures each exhibition is quite different from the previous year. There is often an intriguing mix of highly skilled traditional printmaking alongside more experimental, unconventional work, pushing the boundaries of scale and medium.

The winner of the Award goes on to present their own solo print exhibition at Huddersfield Art Gallery in 2021. They will also benefit from a two-week residency at WYPW.  In addition there are runners-up prizes, including the Great Art Award, Hawthorn Printmakers Prize, and our student/recent graduate award
